Hi,
Hope you are well.
Our second stop on our Lakes to Lagoon and Wine Italy trip Daniele and I hosted was Sirmione, a medieval castle town on Lake Garda. We were swooped up from our hotel in Lake Como by our driver in a Mercedes Sprinter Van to get to our next destination. We stopped at Barone Pizzini in the Franciacorta wine region to do a wine tasting on the way to Sirmione. We had a delicious lunch at Da Gina, a local restaurant nearby before we headed to our hotel in Sirmione. A huge highlight was staying at Villa Cortine, a 5-star boutique hotel, a 19th century villa perched on top of a hill overlooking Lake Garda. The property and grounds are beautifully set on a 5-hectare centuries old park. We enjoyed watching the sunset while eating dinner on the terrace one evening. Another highlight was seeing and tasting the wines at Bertani in the Valpolicella region, especially the Amarone wine! Villa Mosconi Bertani is the only Veronese estate since the beginning of the 18th century built for the purpose of wine production.
